General stuff

So..why don't free tips work?

Free tips aren't targeted...by that I mean they don't address a need that you might have. They are just generic tips that may work depending on your situation. Most of the time, they aren't that effective. Take for example the classic "lowering your thermostat to 68F in the winter can save 20% on heating bills." Under most circumstances, your bill won't go down 20%. Or even close to that. Maybe if your house was heated to 74 or something like that and you have decent insulation you will see those savings. Most of us won't. That tip isn't going to lower our bill all that much if we keep the thermostat at 69F.

How much energy does the kit aim to save?

It depends on your situation and how much you're wasting. The goal is to reduce energy by finding energy waste and fixing it. For some people, this is a few dollars a day - which adds up to almost $100 a month. For others the savings are more modest.

What do I need on my computer to open the kit?

Three things, all of which you probably already have:

1. A PDF reader. The most common is Acrobat Reader.
2. Microsoft Excel, or Open Office Calc. MS Office costs money, but Open Office is free and will work fine. Chances are, though, you already have excel. You can also download Excel reader for free from Microsoft.
3. An unzip program, like winzip or stuff-it. Windows XP already should have an unzip program built in.

Payment & download questions

I'm scared paying for things online.

I understand, and I'm cautious too. That's why I partnered with Clickbank, a global leader in payment processing and digital goods. They have an excellent security track record, and all your sensitive information is encrypted. Additionally, I can not see your payment info. All I see is your name and email. Clickbank's servers are secure and tested safe daily.

Can I pay by check?

Sorry, our current payment processor only accepts credit and debit cards. You can pay by e-check with Paypal.

Can I receive the printed kit by mail instead?

At this time, the kit is only available by download. There are several advantages to a download over traditional mail service:

• No waiting. You can download the kit tonight, and start saving tonight
• Much cheaper. The kit is offered as a download to keep costs low.
• No shipping. insurance, or extra charges

The kit is less than 3 MB in size, so you will have no problem downloading it even on very slow connections

Can you send me a CD by mail?

Sure. If you choose to, I can make you a CD with the information on it. Go through the payment process and when complete, send me an email to let me know you want a CD shipped to you. There is an additional fee of $5.00 for this, which covers postage and handling.

Are there any other charges?

Nope. Once you pay to download the kit, you own it. Plus, if you order within the promotional period for just $47, you will receive lifetime updates free of charge.

There was a problem and I couldn't download the kit.

Check your email, there should have been an email sent to you automatically that has the download link should there have been a problem downloading the kit after paying. Make sure you have enabled cookies and javascript.

The site tells me I have an invalid username and password.

Your username is your email address used to pay. The password was emailed to you immediately after payment at Clickbank. If you have lost your password, you can reset it/recover it by clicking the "lost password" link on the download page.

DIY Energy Saving Kit Questions

Where do I start?

Start with the Audit Guide, and follow the instructions within it. Record your findings and enter the data into the calculators. Make your decisions on energy based on your observations and the numbers. That's pretty much it.

Why is this better than a "professional" visit?

Professionals do a good job covering the expensive areas of your home they can repair and make money on. Windows, doors, insulation, etc. All the things most people really don't do themselves. This makes sense for them, because it is an efficient use of their time. In doing this, though, they ignore or miss a lot of home energy "holes" in every household. This kit let's you do both - replicate those expensive professional results AND look at your energy usage as a whole.

How long does that take?

Tough to say. Some can get through everything in about an hour or so, others take much longer. With this kit, you can take your time and do it right. Once you start doing it, though, you will get the hang of it and start to go much faster.

I can get this info for free.

Possibly. I've been trying to find a lot of the information I wrote in the guides online for years now. It seems every single site I visit has something a little different, and its never really complete. And good luck finding a lot of the professional methods on any public website. Truth is, professional energy consultants usually guard it with their life...and for good reason. Their secrets keep them in business. It's true that they have access to some tools that you simply don't (because they are far too expensive.) But you can replicate their results with the techniques in the kit.

I need help with the kit.

Note that the kit is easy to use (at least in my opinion), the videos will just tell you how to get more out of it.
